A new ADHD Shared Care pathway for children and young people is now available in the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD).
This joint initiative between CESPHN and the SLHD Community Paediatric Service is designed to make it easier for general practitioners (GPs) to partner with specialist services in the ongoing management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
This model has been enabled by NSW reforms introduced in September 2025, which strengthened the role of GPs in ADHD management.
The shared care model provides clear guidance, streamlined communication, and practical tools to support GPs in prescribing and monitoring ADHD medications once a child or young person’s treatment has been stabilised.
Our goal is to ensure timely access to care, reduce bottlenecks in specialist clinics, and strengthen continuity for patients and families.
